LEGO
While all the world of LEGO is an enhancement to your little ones abilities, we do recommend specific sets for specific skills.
DOTS
DOTS Collection is useful for fine motor skills used in hand writing. The DOTS collection forces the use of the pointer and thumb to pick up pieces. Searching DOTS will result various sets.
Classic Creator Boxes
Classic Creator Boxes come with instruction books. This is useful for teaching following directions, creating, imagination, learning colors, fine motor skills, and teamwork and sharing if done with more than one child. Search Classic for the creator boxes.
For Your Advanced Builder
For some, LEGOS are calming, and a hyperfocus develops. They need a challenge. This will also help to refine their fine motor skills with the smaller pieces and will help them to focus for longer periods of time with the larger, more detailed sets. Look at age range 13+.
For our young builders transitioning from Duplo
These blocks help with gripping smaller items. While not as small as regular LEGO's, they are smaller than DUPLO blocks beginning to teach little hands to pick up using individual fingers instead of grabbing with whole hand. Search Age range 4+
Make Cleanup Fun
Use the varied storage units to make clean-up fun and interesting by sorting the LEGOS in various ways, by piece, by color, by shape, to make clean-up a part of play each time and to keep their pieces sorted and off the floor. Make LEGO time part of the schedule.
